"Complaints.. start with THEY, Solutions.. start with I"
The LEaders Accelerating Development Program (LEAD) of the Deshpande Foundation helps students realize their dreams of changing India. The LEAD movement that started in the Hubballi-Dharwad area in 2008 currently spans throughout Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
LEAD is a student-centered program, and our highly motivated team works to enable students to think creatively and achieve their goals. They network with colleges and students to create leadership pipelines for LEADers who show interest in doing more for their communities and society. In LEAD students are encouraged to develop and pursue their own creative projects to better their communities. These projects have two purposes. The first is to improve society through student volunteerism. Projects are extremely diverse, and have included everything from paving slum roads and teaching rural people about sanitation to inventing a breaking system for the bullock cart and creating a low cost portable water filter.

The objective of these projects is to help students realize their own leadership abilities, and encourage them to use these skills to further benefit society. Under the LEAD platform students become leaders by developing their abilities in the real world, and create social value while learning.
LEAD expanded to Nalgonda in July 2016, and since then has achieved considerable impact with students doing projects such as teaching computer literacy to orphans, participating in Daan Utsav, and organising commemorative events.
